Wergonic builds sensorized workwear that uses AI to monitor ergonomic risk and prevent workplace injuries. I joined to lead the mobile work and own the product direction — and ended up rebuilding the whole thing.

The problem

The product was a single mobile app trying to do everything. To serve real organizations, it needed to become a platform: something workers, managers, and admins could each use for their part of the job.

What I led

  • A cross-functional team of 8 — design, mobile, web, backend, and QA — from architecture through delivery, run on ClickUp and Slack.
  • A full rebuild into a platform suite: the mobile app, an organization panel, and an admin panel.
  • Sensor work: integrated additional sensors and limb types, and lifted signal reading frequency to 25Hz per sensor, optimising pre-processing before cloud sync.
  • New algorithms for motion data processing and prediction, plus a real-time backend with automated report generation and AI-based predictions.
  • The bridge between founders and the technical team — aligning features with go-to-market and fundraising goals, and co-presenting client and investor pitches.

Challenges

Real-time sensor data at scale is unforgiving — every millisecond of pre-processing and every sync decision matters. Balancing that with shipping a multi-surface product on a small team was the real test.

Outcome

A coherent platform instead of a single app — and a product-ownership role that grew until it warranted a dedicated Product Manager hire, handed over as the team scaled in 2024.
